Item type:Item, Optical Wireless Communications using Visible LED(2015-01-01) ;Chow, Chi-Wai ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Liu, Yang ;光電工程學系光電工程研究所The improvements of power efficiency and cost reduction enable light emitting diode (LED) to be deployed in a variety of applications. LED can be switched on and off at a relatively high speed than the conventional lighting sources; hence it is possible to use LED as transmitter for optical wireless communication (OWC). In this talk, we will discuss different schemes to enhance the transmission capacity of OWC. We will also discuss some methods to mitigate the background optical noises. In addition, we will highlight different specific applications of OWC, such as positioning, optical beam forming, etc ...Item type:Item, Passive Optical Receiver for Visible Light Communication (VLC)(2015-01-01) ;Chen, Hung-Yu ;Liang, Kevin ;Chen, Chung-Yen ;Chen, Shih-HaoChow, Chi-WaiWe demonstrate using solar cell as optical receiver (Rx) for visible light communication (VLC). The solar cell is low cost and can convert the VLC optical signal into electrical signal without external power supply. As the response of the solar cell is very limited; we also propose and demonstrate using predistortion to significantly enhance the response of the solar cell Rx. A VLC capacity of 0.4 Mbit/s at bit-error-rate (BER) of 10(-9) under wireless transmission distance of 75 cm; and a capacity of 0.3 Mbit/s at BER of 10-9 under wireless transmission distance of 125 cm can be achieved.Item type:Item, Demonstration of High Speed Imaging 3x3 MIMO-OFDM Visible Light Communication System(2016-01-01) ;Hsu, Chin-Wei ;Lu, I-Cheng ;Liu, Yen-Liang ;Yeh, Chien-HungChow, Chi-WaiWe experimentally demonstrate the 3x3 imaging multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) visible light communication (VLC) system, using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation and bit-loading, a total data rate > 800-Mbit/s over 1-m transmission is achieved without using blue-filter.Item type:Item, High-Speed 2x2 MIMO-OFDM Visible Light Communication Employing Phosphorescent LED(2016) ;Lu, I-Cheng ;Liu, Yen-Liang ;Lai, Chih-Han ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsWe experimentally demonstrated a 2x2 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) visible light communication (VLC) system using commercial phosphorescent white light emitting diodes (LEDs) and low-cost PIN photodiodes (PDs). Additionally, a pre-equalizer was used to extend the available modulation bandwidth up to 100 MHz. Using spectral-efficient orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation with bit-loading algorithm, we successfully achieved high-speed VLC transmission at > 1 Gbit/s over a free-space link of 0.6 m.Item type:Item, Passive Optical Receiver for Visible Light Communication (VLC)(2015-01-01) ;Chen, Hung-Yu ;Liang, Kevin ;Chen, Chung-Yen ;Chen, Shih-HaoChow, Chi-WaiWe demonstrate using solar cell as optical receiver (Rx) for visible light communication (VLC).
