In this article, we present a framework which transfers video to dynamic relief-structures with water interaction. Our method enables the interaction between video content and waterflows. The key idea is that the dynamic 2.5D structures of the objects in video are constructed and then waterflows are simulated to interact with the 2.5D structures. We performed experiments for still images, and video in which objects had various motion styles. User interaction with our system was also demonstrated. The result of a user study indicated that our method could produce visually acceptable results.

The correct implementation and behavior of Internet of Things (IoT) applications are seldom investigated in the literature. This paper shows how the simulation mechanism can be integrated well into an IoT application development platform for correct implementation and behavior investigation. We use an IoT application development platform called IoTtalk as an example to describe how the simulation mechanism called SimTalk can be built into this IoT platform. We first elaborate on how to implement the simulator for an input IoT device (a sensor). Then we describe how an output IoT device (an actuator) can be simulated by an animated simulator. We use a smart farm application to show how the simulated sensors are used for correct implementation. We use applications including interactive art (skeleton art and water dance) and the pendulum physics experiment as examples to illustrate how IoT application behavior investigation can be achieved in SimTalk. As the main outcome of this paper, the SimTalk simulation codes can be directly reused for real IoT applications. Furthermore, SimTalk is integrated well with an IoT application verification tool in order to formally verify the IoT application configuration. Such features have not been found in any IoT simulators in the world.

In this letter, we determine the importance of the electrical field distribution and strength during the switching process by demonstrating different trends in the degree of reset and the reset pulse time. In general, a longer reset pulse time results in a higher reset energy; a higher reset energy leads to a higher degree of reset, which we obtainedby applying different width square waves. But quite notably, the opposite result was obtained using triangle waves, where a higher degree of reset occurred with a shorter rising time and lower reset energy. We believe that this is due to the electric field effect: if the voltage rises faster than the filament oxidation, the device can produce a larger effective electric field and a higher resistance in the reset process. To further investigate the mechanism, the procedure of the reset process was analyzed in detail, and COMSOL simulation is also carried out for confirmation.

This paper deals with the serious problems of ventilation system in a large road tunnel. Higher visibility and lower concentration of carbon monoxide are the key issues concerning the ventilation system. Prior to designing the fuzzy control model, a configuration layout of the ventilation system including sensing, control and traffic prediction as well is conceptually constructed. Based on the layout that offers assignments of sensors and control elements, a fuzzy logic control model is developed. Membership functions of sensor errors and control increments are physically submitted in order to set up the fuzzy logic rules. Timing and spacing filtering in terms of weighting approaches is employed in the fuzzy logic rules. A dynamic equation describing the concentration of air pollution is also given so as to cooperate with the fuzzy logic rules and to play roles in the computer simulation. The result of computer simulation involving five cases indicates that a multi-level scheme is able to solve the engineering problems. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

In this paper, finite element method (FEM) simulations are carried out with pillar-concave structure using silicon substrate, silicon substrate with polyimide (PI) and with polybenzoxazole (PBO) for realization of Cu-Cu bonding at low temperature. Parameters of bonding temperature, pillar diameter, concave sidewall angle, and multilayer of concave structure are all considered in simulation. In addition, pillarconcave bonding is successfully demonstrated on silicon substrates with bonding temperatures ranging from 60 degrees C to 100 degrees C. Simulation and fabrication results of concept show potential impacts on current semiconductor packaging method with advantages such as high adhesive strength of polymer on various types of substrates, simplified manufacturing process, solder free interconnect and packaging process, Cu-Cu direct bonding at temperature lower than 100 degrees C, and high tolerance in surface roughness.

Ad hoc network is composed of mobile nodes without infrastructure. Depending on a hop-by-hop basis of connection, communications between high-mobility nodes are accomplished via cooperative forwarding. Especially, the vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a technology that uses moving cars as nodes to create a mobile network or implement vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) connection. However, the discussion about live streaming or comparative performance in V2V has been lacked so far. We propose a V2V streaming on OMNet platform (VSOP) to build a V2V evaluation of real-time multimedia streaming under TCP/UDP on VANET. We not only compare TCP and UDP, but also analyze and simulate the routing performance in VANET. The major contribution of proposed scheme is a compared study of protocols for real-time wireless application.

Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is an automated manufacturing system that incorporates all the relatively individual processing stations (CNC machines) within the production plant. FMS is fundamental of reducing cost, rising reliability and coordination of flexibility, and productivity. This paper considers the simulation study in the efficiency of multi-sections FMS to perform the various types for several part operations in terms of maximize throughput, WIP and waiting time with alternative routes selection by synthesizing dispatching rules. The study will also focus on the reused modules building functionality. Modeling efforts can be reduced to a great extent through the development of domain specific modules that encapsulate the domain-specific logic and hide many of the modeling details. The key feature of this conception is to allow user to define new modeling modules that can be tailored to a specific problem domain.

Many probabilistic scheduling models have been developed to determine the duration of construction projects. However, these models are not appropriate to capture the effect of the factors that are involved construction interface problems on the durations of multiple activities. This work presents a simulation-based probabilistic scheduling model that includes the impact of construction interface problems on the duration of building projects. The proposed model is established according to an activity duration model and a work-group (WG)-based schedule network. The activity duration model is applied to reflect the effects of "general factors" on the duration of each activity; the WG-based schedule network is employed to evaluate the effects of construction interface problems on the durations of multiple activities. The results of applying the proposed model to an example project reveal that the duration of a project can be over-optimistically estimated if the effects of construction interface problems are neglected.

The charge collection probability is one of the most important parameters of a solar cell. We derived two kinds of special functions to fit the external quantum efficiency and use then to reconstruct the charge collection probability. The simulation results of gallium arsenide and silicon solar cells are put into comparison.

If the trap density is 10(12)cm(-2), then there are only one trap in 10nm x 10nm on average. Accordingly, three-dimensional simulation that is sensitive to the movement of sole electron is indispensable for carefully investigating the reliability issues related to local traps in future nano-electron devices. As a demonstration, we investigate Random Telegraph Noise (RTN) and Trap-Assisted Tunneling (TAT) at the same moment in 5nmx5nm gate area high-K dielectrics (EOT=0.8nm to 0.47nm). The simulation is carried out with respect to various gate biases, physical thickness of high-K, interlayer suboxide thickness, and dielectric constant of high-K. It is suggested that thinner suboxide and higher permittivity can suppress the increase of the leakage current which is caused by TAT.
