Item type:Item, Optimization of weld bead geometry in the activated GMA welding process via a grey-based Taguchi method(2014-08-01) ;Lin, Hsuan-Liang ;Yan, Jia-Ching ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringWe optimized the weld bead geometry of 6061 aluminum alloy welds pre-coated with activating flux before gas metal arc (GMA) welding. In this activated GMA welding process, there were five single component fluxes used in the initial experiment to evaluate the penetration capability of bead-on-plate GMA welds. Based on the higher penetration of weld bead, two single component fluxes were selected to create mixed component flux in next stage. The grey-based Taguchi method was employed to obtain the optimal welding parameters that were considered with multiple quality characteristics such as penetration, depth-to-width ratio (DWR) and fusion area of GMA welds. The experimental procedure of the proposed approach not only increases penetration of 6061 aluminum alloy welds, but also improves the DWR and fusion area of GMA butt-joint welds simultaneously. Item type:Item, Optimization of weld bead geometry in the activated GMA welding process via a grey-based Taguchi method(2014-08-01) ;Lin, Hsuan-Liang ;Yan, Jia-Ching ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringWe optimized the weld bead geometry of 6061 aluminum alloy welds pre-coated with activating flux before gas metal arc (GMA) welding. This benefit include a reduction in forming forces, which might be attributed to the superposition of stress, increased temperatures, the effects of interface friction, and energy absorption of dislocation. This study conducts a series of experiments and analyses to investigate the main mechanisms of a reduction in forming forces during ultrasonic-vibration assisted A6061-T6 aluminum alloy upsetting. The findings of this research confirm that, under frictionless conditions, ultrasonic vibration still reduced forming forces, and ultrasonic vibration can increase the temperature of specimens and soften specimen surface during upsetting. From metallographic analyses and micro-hardness tests, the results reveal that energy absorption of dislocation was occurred during upsetting, which also contribute to the reduction of forming force. This research concludes that the mechanisms of increased temperatures and energy absorption of dislocation can affect the material property and make a reduction in forming forces; however, the interface friction effect has nothing to do with a reduction in forming forces. The post-welding heat treatments of weldments were carried out and recorded for microstructure, tensile test, hardness and fracture surface in different conditions. The experimental results indicate that the post-welding heat treatment, filler metal chose can increase the mechanical properties. The microstructure and fracture surface of dissimilar welding can evaluate the distribution of precipitation strengthening phase in fusion zone, heat: affected zone and its fracture type.Item type:Item, Effect of Laser Welding on Properties of Dissimilar Joint of Al-Mg-Si and Al-Mn Aluminum Alloys(2010-03-01) ;Chang, C. C. ;Chou, C. P. ;Hsu, S. N. ;Hsiung, G. Y.Chen, J. R.This study discusses the welding properties for the components of an aluminum-alloy ultra-high vacuum chamber and beam position monitor (BPM). The welding parameters include the modes of laser output (pulsed wave and continuous wave), welding speed, shield gas flow, welding bead structure, and focusing distance. The results showed that the welding defect rate of the pulsed wave type was larger than that of the continuous wave type. The crack in the welding bead reduced with decreasing welding speed. The fusion penetration of the welding bead was higher when the focusing distance was long enough to deepen into the welding material. Weld morphology during the experimental process revealed the proper flow of shield gas. The adaptability design of the welding bead structure in the preceding processes had more effect on overall welding structure and morphology.
