A novel fabrication method using holographic exposure for switchable blue phase (BP) liquid crystal (LC)/polymer Fresnel lens was demonstrated. The Fresnel pattern can be achieved by interfering a planar and a spherical wave fronts with a 532-nm laser. The BPLC/polymer Fresnel lens can thus be fabricated without photo mask and controlled with a simpler driving compared with the conventional LC Fresnel lens.

In this paper, we describe the fabrication of a Fresnel lens with a diameter of 15mm by a glass molding technique. Tungsten carbide and K-CSK120 were used as the materials of the mold and lens, respectively. The optimal parameters determined for the molding process included a molding temperature of 560 A degrees C, a molding force of 300 N, a temperature holding time of 180 s, and a cooling rate of 18.5 A degrees C/min.

The fast response superzone Fresnel liquid crystal (LC) lens with multiple transparent electrodes was proposed for temporal scanning auto-stereoscopic display. The experimental results indicated that the superzone Fresnel LC lens not only performed fast switching time (similar to 0.2 s), but also had the benefit of low driving voltage (similar to 5 V-rms). A 4-inch 2D/3D switchable auto-stereoscopic display with superzone Fresnel LC lens was further demonstrated. Finally, by driving the multiple electrodes alternatively, the superzone Fresnel LC lens array could be moved on horizontal direction for increasing the resolution of auto-stereoscopic display.

In this paper, we design a single concentrator to homogenize and concentrate the solar energy. The proposed concentrator only consisted of an array of refraction prisms. In order to homogenize the irradiance, all pitches of the Fresnel concentrator focus on the different position of the receiver. Finally, the Fresnel lens that achieves the uniformity of U is 14.6. An acceptance angle of 0.305 degrees is achieved without using additional secondary optics. Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) of illumination distribution is 1.4 mm. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. A homemade apparatus was used to apply ultrasonic-vibration to assist the glass hot embossing processes. To operate at high temperatures for glass hot embossing, the ultrasonic vibration system was appropriately designed with an embedded cooling system, and an ultrasonic horn was specifically modified for high-temperature use. Molds with both V-groove and Fresnel structures were manufactured for hot embossing experiments on PSK-100 glass. The heights of the molded structures were increased significantly with the assistance of ultrasonic vibration. This technology demonstrates the capability to upgrade the performance of the glass hot embossing process.
