A good set of the financial system could take care of all accounting entries and their impacts on the whole intelligent financial environment. The total flow of money and total expenditures will be reflected here. The intelligent financial system can improve the utilization of data, increase the work efficiency of financial personnel, and increase the security of financial processing services. This system could help the managers make their important financial decisions, financial budgeting, and so on. They can know about the financial conditions at any time. Based on the collection and processing of financial data, we design and analyze the related financial system to carry out the intelligent property of the financial environments. The system extends the quality of financial reporting, SOX compliance, and internal controls in a financial system, including credit management, revenue recognition, bad debts allowance. Once there is an early warning in the financial system, our proposed enhanced system could give a fast early response, and bridge a positive linkage about the planning department, finance department, and top managers, which could avoid potential exposure to bad debts. This system guarantees that the credible customers are selected, and avoid the potential risk of bad debts are incurred by a loose credit limit. It strengthens the preventive control over aging receivables management and detects the potential risk of bad debts in the earlier system alert.

The construction of the financial module is very important in the intelligent management of the company. The collection, transmission, and processing of relevant item information in the financial module are of great significance to the construction of the intelligent financial module. The intelligent financial processing module can improve financial office efficiency and increase the security of the financial processing process. Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX 404) has always played a decisive role in the quality and transparency of the financial modules of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) of multinational corporations, due to the mandatory nature of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The purpose of this research is to design a set of intelligent ERP financial modules for multinational corporations that could comply with SOX 404, strengthen internal controls, and improve the security and convenience of the financial module. Thereby achieving intelligent management of financial modules and intelligent prevention of risks. Our solution could fortify the preventive controls over inappropriate payments to products with quality issues, reduce manual efforts for credit memo issuance and receipt. It could also fortify the preventive controls over financial risks potentially threatened by a sudden contingent liability concerning E&O issues. It could prevent potential and unexpected frauds arisen by a malicious user to meet the requirements of SOX over preventive and detective controls over the financial system. It could also ensure the consistency of journals between the preparer's entry and review's approval as well as improve the completeness and timeliness of financial statement assertions.

Bioleaching is one of the promising procedures for removal of heavy metals from contaminated sediments. The advantages of this biotechnology are that it is easy, efficient, less costly and friendly to the environment. However, the principal disadvantage of this process is its slow kinetics in metal solubilization, which may limit practical application of the bioleaching process. In order to enhance the rate and efficiency of metal solubilization, the ferric ion was used as a catalytic agent in the bioleaching process. It was found that the sediment pH apparently decreased in the bioleaching after addition of ferric ion. The metal solubilization increased quickly after the addition of ferric ion. The rate of metal solubilization was enhanced by the addition of ferric ion, especially for Cr and Pb. An increase in the amount of ferric ion added increased the final efficiency of metal solubilization. The highest final efficiency of metal solubilization was obtained in the bioleaching with 1 g/L of ferric ion. Besides, the growth of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria was not affected by addition of ferric ion in the bioleaching. It was concluded that the kinetics of metal solubilization were enhanced by addition of ferric ion in the bioleaching process.

The attenuate effect of a variable optical attenuator (VOA) with a tunable nonsmooth curved mirror is fabricated and investigated experimentally and analytically. The working principle of this VOA is based on tuning the reflective mirror membrane into the nonsmooth curved mirror to enhance the optical attenuation, compared with that of the smooth curved mirror. The attenuation depending on the radius of curvature in a smooth concave mirror is simulated. Also, the attenuation tests on smooth and nonsmooth concave mirrors are conducted experimentally. The mirror membrane of the proposed VOA can provide not only the curved shape, but also a nonsmooth shape at the same time in the mirror membrane. By comparing the experimental results between the smooth and nonsmooth curved mirrors, the attenuation is shown to be enhanced at least 60% by the nonsmooth effect when the radius of curvature is smaller than 50 mm. The mirror membrane combining gold and low-stress nitride using back-side etching is sufficiently flat to provide an insertion loss of 0.53dB, and more than 40dB attenuation after deformation.

This study conducts an experimental study concerning the improvement of nozzle/diffuser micropump design using some novel no-moving-part valves. A total of three micropumps, including two enhancement structures having two-fin or obstacle structure and one conventional micro nozzle/diffuser design, are made and tested in this study. It is found that dramatic increase of the pressure drops across the designed micro nozzles/diffusers are seen when the obstacle or fin structure is added. The resultant maximum flow rates are 47.07 mm(3)/s and 53.39 mm(3)/s, respectively, for the conventional micro nozzle/diffuser and the added two-fin structure in micro nozzle/diffuser operated at a frequency of 400 Hz. Yet the mass flow rate for two-fin design surpasses that of conventional one when the frequency is below 425 Hz but the trend is reversed with a further increase of frequency. This is because the maximum efficiency ratio improvement for added two-fin is appreciably higher than the other design at a lower operating frequency. In the meantime, despite the efficiency ratio of the obstacle structure also reveals a similar trend as that of two-fin design, its significant pressure drop (flow resistance) had offset its superiority at low operating frequency, thereby leading to a lesser flow rate throughout the test range.

Fingerprint image enhancement is a common and critical step in fingerprint recognition systems. To enhance the images, most of the existing enhancement algorithms use filtering techniques that can be categorized into isotropic and anisotropic according to the filter kernel. Isotropic filtering can properly preserve features on the input images but can hardly improve the quality of the images. On the other hand, anisotropic filtering can effectively remove noise from the image but only when a reliable orientation is provided. In this paper, we propose a ridge orientation estimation and verification algorithm which can not only generate an orientation of ridge flows, but also verify its reliability. Experimental results show that, on average, over 51 percent of an image in the NIST-4 database has reliable orientations. Based on this algorithm, a hybrid fingerprint enhancement algorithm is developed which applies isotropic filtering on regions without reliable orientations and anisotropic filtering on regions with reliable orientations. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm can combine advantages of both isotropic and anisotropic filtering techniques and generally improve the quality of fingerprint images.

A novel approach to simultaneous scaling and enhancing of a digital image is proposed, where efficient code matching is utilized to classify various edge/corner patterns. Adaptive schemes of inter-/extra-polations are adopted to maintain a balance of smoothness and sharpness of the scaled image, with unlimited scaling factors. Unlike many complex methods for image scaling and enhancement, our approach is very simple, making hardware implementation feasible.
