Item type:Item, Integrated micro-optical write-read head for holographic data storage(2008-01-01) ;Vieth, Udo ;Gruber, Matthias ;Hsu, K. -Y. ;Lin, S. -H.電子物理學系We discuss the micro-integration of an optical write-read head for disk-based volume holographic data storage. A particular approach based on the design principle of planar-integrated free-space optics and on photopolymer storage materials is proposed. Numerical construction parameters are calculated and initial experimental results concerning the performance of the photopolymer are presented.Item type:Item, Experimental characterization of phenanthrenequinone-doped poly(methyl methacrylate) photopolymer for volume holographic storage(2003-05-01) ;Hsu, KY ;Lin, SH ;Hsiao, YN ;Whang, WT材料科學與工程學系We present an experimental study on the photopolymer poly(methyl methacrylate) doped with phenathrenequinone molecules. Material characteristics for holographic data storage, including optical characteristics, scattering effect, relation between diffraction efficiency and number of holograms, and exposure schedule for multiple storage, are investigated. An experimental demonstration of multiple storage of digital data pages in a polymer cube is presented. We describe their characteristics for holographic data storage, including photo-sensitivity, material M/#, angular selectivity, dynamic exposure schedule, absorption and scattering effect. Experimental demonstrations on multiple digital data pages stored in a polymer cube are presented.Item type:Item, Effect of grating detuning on holographic data storage(2000) ;Lin, SH ;Hsu, KY ;電子物理學系Department of ElectrophysicsWe use the scaler diffraction theory to analyze the grating detuning effect in a volume holographic data storage system. The general formulas for describing the two-dimensional distribution of retrieved image under the detuning effect have been derived. In terms of the image uniformity and the pixel shift of the retrieval image, computer simulations are used to perform a quantitative analysis.Item type:Item, Temperature effect in PQ : PMMA photopolymer(2000) ;Lin, SH ;Hsu, KY ;電子物理學系Department of ElectrophysicsWe present our studies on the temperature effect of the grating recorded in a phenathrenequinone (PQ) doped poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) photopolymer. The characteristics for recording a strong single grating have been studied. We find that the main limitation of full utilization of the refractive index modulation of the hologram is caused by the scattering effect. Experimental demonstration of using dark enhancement to enhance diffraction efficiency of a grating is presented.Item type:Item, Quinone-based molecules doped poly(methyl methacrylate) photopolymer for the holographic data storage(2002) ;Lin, SH ;Hsu, KY ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsWe present our studies on the photopolymer of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) doped with quinone-based molecules for holographic data storage. We discuss the recording mechanism involved with the photoreaction of the. quinone and olefin bonds. Experimental characterizations, including sensitive wavelength, holographic recording and material M/# are also presented.Item type:Item, Holographic data storage using photopolymer(2003) ;Hsu, KY ;Lin, SH ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsIn this paper, we present investigations on holographic data storage using photopolymer of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) doped with phenathrenequinone (PQ) molecules. From the system specifications we derive the material parameters that are required for a data storage system. We present a technique of material preparation for obtaining samples with good optical quality. Then we present material characteristics for holographic data storage, including M/#, sensitivity, and material shrinkage. Experimental demonstration on digital data storage is presented and bit error rate is discussed.Item type:Item, Doped poly(methyl methacrylate) photopolymers for holographic data storage(2006-06-01) ;Lin, Shiuan Huei ;Lin, June-Hua ;Chen, Po-Lin ;Shiao, Yi -NanHsu, Ken Y.In this paper, we report our investigations on thick holographic recording material of the phenanthrenequinone doped poly(methyl methacrylate) (PQ:PMMA) photopolymer. The design strategy and fabrication technique for making thick polymer samples with negligible shrinkage and good optical quality are presented. The physical mechanism for holographic recording in PQ:PMMA material is described, and methods for improving are proposed. Based on these methods, photopolymer samples with different compositions are fabricated and experimentally characterized. The results show that by modifying compositions, the material sensitivity and dynamic range for volume holographic recording have been improved.Item type:Item, Phenanthrenequinone-doped copolymers for holographic data storage(2009-03-01) ;Lin, Shiuan Huei ;Chen, Po-Lin ;Lin, June-Hwa ;電子物理學系光電工程學系Two new types of phenanthrenequinone-doped poly(methylmethacrylate) (PQ/PMMA) are proposed and fabricated for volume holographic recording. In these materials, the matrix of PQ/PMMA is replaced by the copolymers, which are composed of either poly (trimethylolpropane triacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) or poly (2-phenoxyethyl acrylate-co-methyl methacrylate), respectively. With the chemical analyses of the response of these materials with respect to light exposure, the physical mechanism of the holographic recording in those copolymer samples is investigated. In addition, the holographic characteristics, including the dynamic range and sensitivity, have been measured. The experimental results demonstrate that the modification of the monomer components can enhance holographic characteristics of PQ/PMMA. (C) 2009 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. [DOI: 10.1117/1.3099713]Item type:Item, A Gray Level Weighting Method to Reduce Optical Aberration Effect in Holographic Data Storage System(2011-03-01) ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Chen, Yu-Ta ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsAn alignment method for holographic data storage system (HDSS) is proposed in this paper. Due to several types of noises encountered in the HDSS, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is degraded. Errors can be corrected using a channel code for some sorts of noise, while it may require a high quality optical system to reduce the error probability for the other types of noise. A checkerboard pattern is proposed using intensity weighting to find the fiducial points, which could work in a lower SNR system and thus reduce the error likelihood effectively. Reed-solomon (RS) code and oversampling are both made available in the HDSS. As a consequence, the aberration effects are eliminated using the fiducial points, leading to a low SNR system clear of errors after performing decoding. The lowest SNR system is out of error-free recovery condition, so that all the alignment methods proposed in this paper could not reduce the aberration effects to restore the images into the original data.
