Item type:Item, Corner-Stitching-Based Multilayer Obstacle-Avoiding Component-to-Component Rectilinear Minimum Spanning Tree Construction(2020-03-01) ;Su, Yen-Yu ;Wang, Shuo-Hui ;Wu, Wei-Liang ;Lin, Mark Po-Hung電子工程學系及電子研究所Engineering change orders (ECOs) are pervasively applied to modern physical design of nanometer integrated circuits for cost-effective design changes. After applying ECO, a net may become open, which results in a large number of disconnected net components. Each net component further consists of a set of connected net shapes and vias on different layers. It is very challenging to efficiently and effectively identify all disconnected net components and find an obstacle-avoiding minimal-cost routing path among those net components. This paper introduces an open-net finder and an open-net connector based on the corner-stitching data structure for open-net routing, and proposes a new method of constructing a multilayer obstacle-avoiding component-to-component rectilinear minimum spanning tree. The preliminary idea and implementation of the proposed method had received the first place award in ICCAD-2017 CAD contest. This paper further details the complete idea of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed open-net finder and connector outperform the top three open-net routers in the ICCAD-2017 CAD contest and two latest published works, with better routing costs and much shorter runtime.Item type:Item, Shape Effect of Silicon Nitride Subwavelength Structure on Reflectance for Silicon Solar Cells(2010-10-01) ;Sahoo, Kartika Chandra ;Li, Yiming ;Chang, Edward Yi ;材料科學與工程學系電子工程學系及電子研究所In this paper, we, for the first time, examine the spectral reflectivity of hemisphere-, cone-, cylinder-, and parabola-shaped silicon nitride (Si3N4) subwavelength structures (SWSs). A multilayer rigorous coupled-wave approach is advanced to evaluate the reflection properties of Si3N4 SWSs. We optimize the aforementioned four different shapes of SWSs in terms of effective reflectance over a range of wavelength. The results of our paper show that a lowest effective reflectivity could be achieved for the optimized cone-shaped SWS as compared to hemisphere-, parabola-, and cylinder-shaped structures with the same volume. The best shape SWS is then fabricated together with a silicon (Si) solar cell, and the efficiency of the solar cell is compared with that of a solar cell with single-layer antireflection coating (ARC). An increase of 1.09% in cell efficiency (eta) is observed for the Si solar cell with a cone-shaped Si3N4 SWS (eta = 12.86%) as compared with the cell with single-layer Si3N4 ARCs (eta = 11.77%).Item type:Item, Predicting the permeability and tensile behavior of high density polyethylene/tie/polyamide 6 three-layer films(2004-12-01) ;Huang, CH ;Wu, JS ;Huang, CC ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryMultilayer films with multiple properties have been widely applied in the packaging industry. In order to know the two most important properties, ie permeability and tensile property, of the multilayer films, we examined model predictions and the properties of the individual component layers to provide an efficient method to design desired multilayer structures. The series model was employed for predicting permeability; there is good agreement between experimental data and this model for predicting both gas and water vapor permeabilities of three-layer films with various thickness fractions of polyamide 6 (PA-6). We can also predict the parameters of the constitutive equation, which described the plastic deformation of the three-layer films, from those of the individual component layers, with particularly high accuracy by using the additive rule. However, there was a larger discrepancy between the model and experimental data at high crosshead speeds due to the generation of heat during deformation. Using first-principles calculations, we analyze the interfacial binding behavior and the impact of binding on the other layers of a trilayer BP. We found that the interfacial charge density and charge transfer of Scandium (Sc)-contacted trilayer BP are 2.67 and 3.29 times greater than Au-contacted trilayer BP, respectively. Moreover, the interfacial tunneling barrier height and width of Sc-contacted trilayer BP are 0 eV and 1.851 angstrom, which are significantly smaller than that of 5.1 eV and 2.447 angstrom observed in Au-contacted trilayer BP. All these facts suggest a strong bonding and efficient carrier transmission between Sc contact and trilayer BP substrate. Therefore, we conclude that the Sc electrode can lead to a superior performance that is consistent with the experiment.Item type:Item, Design and Simulation of Intermediate Band Solar Cell With Ultradense Type-II Multilayer Ge/Si Quantum Dot Superlattice(2017-11-01) ;Tsai, Yi-Chia ;Lee, Ming-Yi ;Li, Yiming ;Samukawa, Seiji資訊工程學系We studied the miniband dependence on the structural parameters and shape in type-II multilayer germanium (Ge)/silicon (Si) quantum dot superlattice (QDSL) solar cell. A maximum tunable range of ground-state energy is 19% by tuning layer distance down to 0.5 nm, whereas 24.5% is achieved by adjusting the horizontal dot-to-dot spacing down to 0.3 nm. The reduction of effective bandgap is severe for cylindrical QDs than ellipsoidal and conical QDs in the ultradense QDSL, thus leading to a relatively lower conversion efficiency. On average, the thickness of QD shows a negative correlation to conversion efficiency. We observed a high conversion efficiency of 27.22% in a bilayer conical QDSL under an AM1.5 spectral irradiance and one sun illumination.Item type:Item, Simulation Study of Multilayer Si/SiC Quantum Dot Superlattice for Solar Cell Applications(2016-06) ;Tsai, Yi-Chia ;Lee, Ming-Yi ;Li, Yiming ;Rahman, Mohammad MaksudurSamukawa, SeijiThis letter presents a computational study on the band profile of Si/SiC quantum dot (QD) superlattice for solar cell devices and the theoretical conversion efficiency. We find that both the miniband energy of QD superlattice and the conversion efficiency of QD solar cell highly correlate to the space among layers and the number of layers. When the distance between layers is >2 nm, the impact of the number of layers on the tunable ground-state energy bandwidth is weakened. The conversion efficiency increases as the layer distance decreases; however, when the number of layers is greater than 4, the increasing rate of conversion efficiency declines.Item type:Item, Shape Effect of Silicon Nitride Subwavelength Structure on Reflectance for Silicon Solar Cells(2010-10-01) ;Sahoo, Kartika Chandra ;Li, Yiming ;Chang, Edward Yi ;材料科學與工程學系電機工程學系In this paper, we, for the first time, examine the spectral reflectivity of hemisphere-, cone-, cylinder-, and parabola-shaped silicon nitride (Si(3)N(4)) subwavelength structures (SWSs). With the goal of predicting the permeability and tensile properties of the three-layer films, we examined model predictions and the properties of the individual component layers to provide an economical and efficient pathway to designing desired multilayer structures. We used the series model for predicting permeability a good agreement exists between experimental data and this model for predicting both gas and water vapor permeabilities of three-layer films having various contents of PA-6. By using the additive rule model, we can also predict the tensile properties, including the true yield stress, strain hardening parameter, and tensile modulus of the three-layer film from those of the individual component layers, with particularly high accuracy in the true stress-strain relationship.Item type:Item, Design of miniaturized common-mode filter by multilayer low-temperature co-fired ceramic(2004-11-01) ;Tseng, BC ;Wu, LK ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesA miniaturized common-mode filter composed of multiple substrates with positive and negative coils formed on alternate substrates is proposed in this paper. The pattern of each positive coil is interlaced with that of each negative coil, whereby when the positive and negative coils are alternately stacked, the positive coil do not overlap the negative coil. With such offset configuration, the parasitic capacitance introduced between positive and negative traces is reduced, so the thickness of each substrate can be decreased and the size of the entire filter is effectively reduced. Good agreements between simulated and measured results are demonstrated. Further, the effectiveness of this filter is confirmed by eye diagram and radiation emission measurements.Item type:Item, Predicting the permeability and tensile behavior of high density polyethylene/tie/polyamide 6 three-layer films(2004-12-01) ;Huang, CH ;Wu, JS ;Huang, CC ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryMultilayer films with multiple properties have been widely applied in the packaging industry.
