Item type:Item, A Low-Power K-Band CMOS VCO With Four-Coil Transformer Feedback(2010-08-01) ;Liu, Szu-Ling ;Chen, Kuan-Han ;Chang, Tsu ;Chin, Albert電子工程學系及電子研究所A K-band low-power and low-phase-noise voltagec-ontrolled oscillator (VCO) is presented in this letter. By utilizing four-coil transformer feedback and forward body bias topology, good performances are obtained under a low-power supply with a 5.1% tuning range and a phase noise of -109.8 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the 21.37-GHz carrier frequency. The core circuit of this VCO only consumes 3.5 mW with a 0.6-V supply voltage and a 0.55-V body bias.Item type:Item, 3 similar to 11-GHz CMOS UWB LNA using dual feedback for broadband matching(2006-01-01) ;Fu, Chang-Tsung ;Kuo, Chien-Nan ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsA 1.5V, 3 similar to 11GRz CMOS UWB LNA using dual feedback loops is reported. Using shunt capacitive feedback and series transformer feedback the broadband matching condition is achieved with high flat gain. Fabricated in 0.18um CMOS process, the measurement result demonstrates power gain of 11dB and maximum NF less than 5.6dB throughout the frequency range from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz with power consumption of 10.6mW.Item type:Item, 3 similar to 11-GHz CMOS UWB LNA using dual feedback for broadband matching(2006) ;Fu, Chang-Tsung ;Kuo, Chien-Nan ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsA 1.5V, 3 similar to 11GHz CMOS UWB LNA using dual feedback loops is reported. F. ;Wu, Hui-I ;Huang, Zhe-Yang傳播研究所A wide-band (10 similar to 18GHz) low noise amplifier(LNA) is presented. With transformer feedback in the traditional cascode amplifier, good input matching is achieved from 10 GHz to 18 GHz. The noise figure is below 3.5dB over 10-18GHz. There is no input-matching elements in the input gate of the cascode amplifier, so that the LNA can achieve lower NF. The LNA is designed based on CMOS TSMC 0.18 mu m mixed signal/RF process. With 1.8V supply voltage and three stage amplifiers to achieve wider gain bandwidth, the LNA can achieve input-matching of -12dB over the bandwidth; minimum NIT 2.4dB; gain(S21) of 17dB and 1dB gain compression(P1dB) at -22.6dB. The power consumption is 37.6mW(exclude buffer).Item type:Item, Low-Noise Amplifier Design With Dual Reactive Feedback for Broadband Simultaneous Noise and Impedance Matching(2010-04-01) ;Fu, Chang-Tsung ;Kuo, Chien-Nan ;Taylor, Stewart S. ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThe simultaneous noise and impedance matching (SNIM) condition for a common-source amplifier is analyzed. Transistor noise parameters are derived based on the more complete hybrid-pi model, and the dominant factors jeopardizing SNIM are identified. Strategies for narrowband and broadband SNIM (BSNIM) are derived accordingly. A dual reactive feedback circuit along with an LC-ladder matching network is proposed to achieve the BSNIM. It includes a capacitive and an inductive feedback, where the former utilizes the transistor parasitic gate-to-drain capacitance and the latter is formed by transformer coupling. This circuit topology has been validated in 0.18- and 0.13-mu m CMOS technologies for a 3-11-GHz ultra-wideband (UWB) and a 2.4-5.4-GHz multistandard application, respectively. The 3-11-GHz UWB low-noise amplifier is detailed as a design example.
