E-CONTROLLED oscillators (VCOs) providing wide tuning ranges are useful components in applications such as wireless communications systems. When designing VCOs, it is important to account for the effects of parasitics generated by the active device and circuit layout. A procedure for predicting the tuning bandwidth of wideband VCOs was applied to the design of a Colpitts oscillator operating at UHF.en_US
