This study presents a module integrated with ZigBee communication but without an external power supply and battery to monitor the current consumption of industrial machines. In the module, power is collected from the magnetic field around an electric current in a conductor that is connected to the machine. The collected power is then supplied to the current-measuring and ZigBee communication devices. The information provided by the module supports energy management systems and is the basis for the replacement of old equipment at the appropriate time, thus resulting in increasingly efficient energy usage. Experimental tests, including an energy-harvesting test, a full-function test, and a third party report, verify the performance of the proposed system. Test results show that full function is supported from 10 to 60A and that accuracy is better than 3%.en_US
