Abstract: Without using high speed RF feedback electronics, we successfully demonstrate a novel and economic long-term stabilization scheme for a 10 GHz 0.8 ps asynchronously mode-locked Er-fiber soliton laser by controlling the cavity length to lock the deviation frequency at 25 kHz. The required deviation frequency between the cavity harmonic frequency and the modulation frequency can be directly obtained from the low frequency electronic sideband of the laser output. The same feedback control unit is also useable for higher modulation frequencies, because the suitable deviation frequency always remains within the range of 15 similar to 40 kHz.
