In this thesis,it provide speculative ideas for the urban regeneration in Taipei city. The thesis is composed of three parts-boundary infrastructure,post-industrial landscape and public roofscape. These research is not specific for the selected area.In fact,I assert that we can create new potential of civic facilities by studying on the several urban prototype model. The first issues we face in Taipei is that the relationships between cityland and waterside. In the north Taipei city, the boundary is a massive complex of urban infrastructure, which cause the “border vacuums”(Jane Jacobs's concept). Therefore,we create an a new prototype, providing another potential link between civic recreation and water system. The second issue is about the post-industrial site. The old railway was one of Taipei’s major transport arteries, located in the middle of Taipei city. But after the tracks were rerouted underground, the many businesses and factories that had grown along the length of the railway corridor gradually faded into obscurity. The government should seize the chance to find the space that can be used primarily for social and cultural purposes, getting the right balance between the preservation of historic sites and the commercial use. The third,we focus on the rooftop space of downtown, which is diversifies and humane. However, people put too much residual spaces on roof terrace, creating “By-products” ,where people create self-made illegal architecture. With the study of city's roof levels,we try to create a secondary public roofscape.By finding spaces in roof levels,we turn those roof surfaces into civic open space, such as sports field, green garden and community park, which provides great potential for renaissance of street life. Nowadays,we should consider about the relationship between architecture and the city.In this thesis,we assert several keywords by observing on three environmental matrix. The research show us what is using architecture between infrastructure as a “platform”.We describe the index by reading urban environment with a series of classifications─ a series of urban phenomena and elements. The collection includes civic facilities and culture events, providing a series of study model for urban regeneration. |
