Cubic Zirconia (CZ) has had to play the supporting act role to Diamonds germologically since its very inception in the 1970s. With its diamond like qualities and an extremely competitive price it has more than made a name for itself in the diamond simulants market. However now its about to take on a full fledged center stage role in an all but entirely different industry, the Flat Panel Displays Industry. CZ's optical properties and physical properties makes it the most ideal material for the backbone of a radially new flat panel display technology herein termed The Digital Micro Hinge [DMH] display technology. Using well established concepts from thin film optics we hereby present a forward looking new design for a high performance display system with CZ at the core of its architecture. The system design is centered around the selective reflections and transmissions of well defined and constructed thin films on specific substrates. By computing the relevant parameters for specific thin films that can reflect and transmit only Red, Green and Blue light and marrying the result to an RGB LED backlight system a rather unique display system emerges. This display system does away with almost all the other familiar components in Flat Panel Displays as we know them today This is due to the fact that the resulting systems uses no Color Filters, no Polarizers, no Color Wheel, no Phosphors and last but not least no Liquid Crystal Material either The impact of by passing these display staples is a drastically increased Optical Efficiency and Color Saturation orders of magnitude higher.en_US
