| zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | This research was aimed to investigate the cardiorespiratory functioning of Zen-meditation group and control group by symbolic computation and frequency-domain HRV analysis. This study included 15 normal controls without Zen-meditation experience and 7 experienced Zen meditation practitioners. Signal analysis schemes include the time-domain and frequency-domain methods. Miniscale symbolic dynamic (MSD) method firstly developed in our research group was applied to explore the time-varying cardiorespiratory synchronization on the microscopic scale. Pearson’s correlation coefficient (PCC) method is another method applied to quantify cardiorespiratory interaction. Preliminary results reveal that the control group have better cardiorespiratory synchronization in the session of breathing control. In addition, Group averages of cardiorespiratory synchronization evaluated by MSD for control and Zen-meditation group are about the same. Notice that the ages of the Zen-meditation group cases are much older than the ages of the control group. Therefore, we may conclude that Zen meditation can well maintain the efficiency of cardiorespiratory interactions. In frequency domain HRV analysis, most cases of control group have lower VLF power percentage in the session of breathing control, yet, have higher VLF power percentages in the other sessions. In comparison, Most of the Zen-meditation group have VLF power percentage smaller than 45%. | en_US |
