以矽膠板為中介媒材的探索與實驗創作

Abstract

包裝是用來裝飾及保護物件的外部材質。觀察柔軟包裝材質包覆不同的物件的狀態，包裝材質會自然產生不一樣的外型。本研究根據使用包裝的視覺印象，進行柔軟材質作為模具的實驗探索。 經設計案例分析與文獻探討，了解包裝的本質即為包裝材與內容物之間的關係，在實際材質測試後，逐步聚焦於矽膠板，並成為本研究中主要使用的介質。研究過程中，除了記錄矽膠板與環氧樹脂的實驗結果，並拆解矽膠模具一般認知的輪廓、材質特徵，使之成為本研究的創作手法。本系列創作運用容器、紋理、結構三種表達方式，製作文具、燈具、椅凳等三件作品，呈現矽膠板的應用。 矽膠板的柔軟特徵，衍生出以相同模具製作不同外形產品的概念。在數位加工的時代中，本創作過程著重以「手」作為思考工具，並嘗試由抽象的文字意義：「軟」、「包覆」等，轉化為一種製作物件的方式。經由這樣的研究過程來呈現創作者的設計哲理，並記錄一切具有製作產品潛力的設計手法。

Packages are generally referred to the exterior materials used to both decorate and protect objects. When packages made of soft materials are used to wrap up objects, the shape of the package will change accordingly. Based on the visual image of different packages, this research aims to explore and study different molds conducted with soft materials. The researcher expect to understand the essence of package - the relationship between packages and their contents - through discussing past literatures and analyzing designed cases. After a series of carefully-designed material tests, the focus of this research was gradually switched to silicon sheet, a medium mainly applied in this study. During the research, not only did the result of epoxy and silicon sheet were carefully documented, the generally-accepted concept regarding the outline and feature of silicon mold are also separately discussed, a creative method of this research. Different format of containers, patterns, and structure are applied in this study to conduct stationery, lamp, and stool to vividly represent the possible application of silicon sheet. The concept of using the same mold to create products with different shapes is inspired by the flexibility of silicon sheet. In the era of digital processing, the procedure of this creation emphasizes the idea of using “hand” as a means of thinking and designing. The creator also examines the possibility of conversing abstract concepts including “soft” and “cover” into methods of producing products. The creator’s designing philosophy is expected to be demonstrated through the studying process. All the design methods that have the potential of being applied in pragmatically are also recorded.
