Abstract: Communications using the millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum are a mainstream technology of the next generation systems. However, the mmWave band will experience much more propagation loss than a low frequency band. Therefore, a mmWave system will adopt beamforming techniques to compensate the high propagation. Moreover, hybrid beamforming which combines analog precoder and digital beamforming is a potential candidate for multi-input multi-output (MEMO) systems with massive scale for mmWave hand because of its low hardware complexity. In this paper, we propose a novel beam selection method that ensures the service quality of user equipment (LIE) and mitigates any interference between equipments to provide near performance upper bound and the method overcomes the high costs and complexity of mmWave systems. We evaluate the advantage of the proposed method via sum-rate and complexity computations. Simulation results show that the proposed method can offer significant reductions for massive-scale MIMO mmWave systems. In general, we show that the proposed method achieves a high quality solution, which is almost the same as the performance upper hound.
