dc.description.abstract | An extra-dosed bridge was first introduced into Taiwan. Because of the lack of previous experience, the design is conservative. A comprehensive monitoring project was developed for life-cycle management, design feedback, construction quality assurance, safety assessment and safety warning. In order for a long-term monitoring, fiber optical sensors was employed. This is the first large scale use of fiber optical sensors. The design and rationale are discussed in this paper. All the sensors are arranged in such a way that the data from different sensors can be cross checked to assure the correctness of readings. | en_US |
