dc.description.abstract | The proposed segmentation algorithm uses a new multi-layers segmentation method to separate the text from various compound document images, no matter whether the text and background overlap or not. This approach overcomes various issues that arise due to the complexity of its background. Experimental results with different document images scanned from advertisements, brochures, and magazines show that the proposed algorithm can successfully segment Chinese and English text strings from various backgrounds, no matter the text overlap a simple, slowly or highly varying background. | en_US |
