dc.description.abstractWe have proposed and experimentally demonstrated a bi-directional hybrid optical fiber amplifier, which operates in the ranges of the C and C-plus-L bands simultaneously, based on two erbium-doped' fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) and an semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). The proposed amplifier also provides C or C-plus-L band amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) light source for fiber sensor and detection applications.en_US
