MIURA AND BACKLUND-TRANSFORMATIONS FOR HIERARCHIES OF INTEGRABLE EQUATIONS

Abstract

We present a further study on the Miura and Backlund transformations for the Sato-type hierarchies of integrable equations in the formulation of Konopelchenko and Oevel. We identify the elementary Miura and Backlund transformations, and apply them to recover, in a simple and unified fashion, various types of solutions to the 2+1 dimensional KP and mKP equations.
