We have studied the electrooptical properties of an aligned phase-change guest-host (PCGH) mode liquid crystal display. Samples with various thickness-to-natural pitch ratios d/p(0) are fabricated. For each d/p(0), we measure the phase transition fields, the ON- and OFF-state transmittances and the response times. The phase transition fields are compared to the numerical values calculated from theory, In addition, it is found that when d/p(0) greater than or equal to 1.2 the d/p(0) ratio hardly affects the transmittances but does affect the response times of the sample film. The experimental result also demonstrates that the response times and the phase transition voltages are affected by the rubbing condition.en_US
