In tracking a manoeuvring target by radar system, the measurement noise is significantly correlated when the measurement frequency is high. Bogler's input estimation method with decorrelation algorithm is used to track the manoeuvring target. It is found that the decorrelation process may improve the system performance significantly when the target is in a quiescent period or in steady state of the accelerating period. The transient performance may be improved effectively by a modified method denoted as 'modified CHP algorithm'. The performance in the quiescent period can also be improved by adding a quiescent detector to the system.en_US
