A NEW TYPE OF POLARIZATION PHASE-SHIFTER FOR PHASE-SHIFTING INTERFEROMETRY

Abstract

A new type of polarization phase shifter for phase shifting interferometry is presented. It is very simple and does not have any nonlinear errors as those in a conventional phase shifter PZT. It is suitable not only for a two-path interferometer, but also for a common-path interferometer. In addition to demonstrating its feasibility, it is introduced into a Twyman-Green interferometer to test a plane mirror and a good result is obtained.
