We report measurements of the harmonic distortions and period doubling (PD) in a 1.55-mu-m InGaAsP DFB laser under sinusoidal current modulation. It is found that most degradation of the modulated signal occurring with frequency near the submultiples of relaxation frequency is only for small-signal operation and is violated under large-signal operation. The dynamics can be satisfactorily predicted by employing the Tucker's large-signal model [Tucker and Kaminow, J. Lightwave Technol. LT-2 (1984) 385.].en_US
