Abstract: | 本論文成功降低極化成串頻率至10 k Hz,並展示一軟性的極化顆粒串式顯示介質。文中所提出的電子紙顯示技術有別於其他市面上的顯示技術,利用液體中粒子極化成串現象,改變溶液之穿透度達到明暗兩顯示狀態。首先,我們由基礎原理探討各顯示介質的極化特性,再模擬各顯示介質的極化成串頻率並實驗驗證之,最後從中選擇聚苯乙烯/甘油溶液作為我們系統的顯示介質用。接著對黑白紅藍四種不同顏色的聚苯乙烯/甘油進行成串頻率、成串電壓和對比量測,結果發現各種顏色都能在10 kHz極化成串,除了低頻更符合電子紙低耗能的需求,彩色聚苯乙烯將來更具有實現彩色電子紙的可能性。在外形上,針對我們的顯示系統提出軟性結構設計,採用聚對苯二甲酸乙二醇酯和聚對二甲苯兩種高分子基板,接著用聚對二甲苯將聚苯乙烯甘油封裝進基板,由於甘油低揮發的特性克服了封裝的困難,完成可撓電子紙膜製作,並對此軟性電子紙膜施加電場證實此結構設計之可行性,此外,我們也嘗詴更大尺寸基板的封裝。 We demonstrated a flexible reflective particle chain display and lowered the polarization frequency down to 10 kHz. Different from other particle-based electronic paper technologies, the transmittance of the particle solution is modulated to provide dark and bright states by forming the particle chains. Here we investigated the performances of the display medium based on the polarization principle of various particle/solution combinations. Then we simulated the formation frequency of the particle chains and verify it from experiments. From the experimental results, we choose polystyrene/glycerol as the display medium and measured the polarization frequencies, polarization voltages, and contrast ratios of particles with four different colors, black, white, red, and blue. Color particles were able to be polarized at 10 kHz, showing color displays are attainable by a driving signal of lower frequency and power. In addition, the polystyrene/glycerol display medium was applied to flexible displays using PET and parylene as substrate materials. A packaging process was developed using parylene to seal the polystyrene/glycerol display medium because of the low volatility of the glycerol. |
