摘要: 在學術研究與液晶顯示器的應用上,液晶盒錨定特性的探討有其重要性與需求。我們準備了摩擦配向與光配向的平行水平配向液晶盒分別探討其傾角界面自由能與方位角界面自由能。首先藉著液晶盒相位延遲對電壓的量測與模擬軟體之結果比對,可以決定修正過後的Rapini Papoular界面自由能的傾角錨定能係數。另外利用液晶連體彈性形變理論與Rapini Papoular界面自由能表示式,經由液晶扭轉角度與厚度的量測,我們得知方位角錨定能係數。並進一步觀察一種光配向液晶盒的熱穩定性。
The study on the anchoring properties of the liquid crystal cells is an important issue not only in the scientific research but also in the LCD technology. In this thesis, we prepared several rubbing parallelly planar- aligned nematic liquid crystal cells and several photo-aligned ones. The polar anchoring energy coefficient of the modified Rapini-Papoular formula can be determined by comparing the measured phase retardation versus voltage curve to that simulated from the commercial simulator. Based on the continuum theory and the Rapini-Papoular formula of the surface free energy density, we also determined the azimuthal anchoring energy coefficient via the measurements of the twist angle and the cell gap in a specially assembled liquid crystal cell. Furthermore, we investigated the thermal stability of one photo-aligned nematic liquid crystal cell.
