摘要: | 本論文主旨在模擬封閉式柱形線狀液晶(Closed Cylinder of Nematic Liquid Crystal;CCLC)的光學特性,其主要包括穿透率及光學圖案( Optical Pattern)的模擬.在微小的封閉圓柱體(Closed Cylindrical Cavity)中,液晶分子指向矢具有三維的空間變化,目前文獻中,對於這樣的 問題,僅僅限於入射光是垂直入射時的探討.對於入射光是斜向入射時的光 學特性沒有新的結果被提出.我們採用廣義瓊斯矩陣法(Extended Jones Matrix Method),首次探討CCLC在斜向入射時的光學特性,由模擬的結果知 CCLC具有相當寬廣的視角(Wide Viewing Angle),認為選擇適當的液晶材 料,圓柱體的大小和厚度及幾何結構,應可作為液晶顯示器 (LCD)和光學開 關之用途. On the basis of extended Jones matrix method, a simple method is presented for computing the electro-optical characteristics of the closed cylinder of nematic liquid crystal. We are the first to study the closed cell where the incident angle of light is arbitary. In our simulation, we found that the viewing angle of Regular CCLC is -55 degrees to +55 degrees where the contrast ratio exceeds 5,and the Conical CCLC has very high contrast ratio (about 220) at normal incident. We think that with a suitable choice of liquid crystal material and geometry of CCLC, an excellent liquid crystal display (LCD) and device can be made. |
