Abstract: | 近年來,由於網際網路的快速成長,以及圖文並茂的應用廣為被採 用,諸如WWW和多媒體,使得網路中的訊務大為增加,讓路由器不刊負荷 。為了增進網路上資料的吞吐量(throughput),並解決頻寬不足的壅塞問 題,增加新的功能於現有的路由器,是當前刻不容緩的重要課題。於是有 一種稱為"Multi-Layer Routing"的技術問世。目前已被提出的方案有 Ipsilon的IP Switching,Cisco的Tag Switching,IBM的ARIS (AggregateRoute-based IP Switching,以及Toshiba的Cell Switch Router (CSR)。 本論文詳細剖析這四種Multi-Layer Routing的方法 ,比較此四種技術的優缺點,並根據此結果發展出另一種快速封包路由技 術;這個方案結合了IP Switching及CSR的簡單性,網路擴充性,及強固 性(robustness)與Tag Switching及ARIS的高速傳輸,及網路包容性;相 信在短期內可以完成實作。 In recent years, the fast growing of Internet and feature- rich applications,such as WWW and multimedia remote education, makes the traffic in the networkoverload the capacity of routers. To improve system throughput and resolve congestion due to short of network bandwidth, it is imminent to add capacityand functions to current routers. There is an approach called "Multi-LayerRouting" technology. A number of proposals have been studied for Multi-LayerRouting technologies: Ipsilon's IP Switching, Cisco's Tag Switching, IBM's ARIS (Aggregated Route- Based IP Switching), and Toshiba's Cell Switch Router(CSR). This thesis analyzes the four Multi-Layer Routing technologies, comparestheir performance, and develops another scheme which may be implemented in thenear future. The scheme proposed in this thesis combines the simplicity, scalability, and robustness of IP Switching and CSR with the speed, capacity ofTag Switching and ARIS. |
