dc.description.abstract | The rear derailleur i the most complex component of a multi-speed bicycle.The function of the rear derailleur si to guide the chain precisely to a selected rear sprocket. Therefore, it is important to locate the positioos of the pulleys precisely.In this study, a mathematical model with uniform chain speed for the planar derailleur system is developed. The planar positions of the guide pulley and the tension pulley at different chain apeed are determined by using geometrical and force analysis. The simulation results of the planar positions of the pulleys and the experimental results at different speed ratios and different chain speeds are similar. The results also prove that the effect of the centrifugal force and the mathematical model of slack length are useful to improve the mathematical model. | en_US |
