dc.description.abstractIn complex virtual environments, considering different levels of detail for displaying is an appropriate approach to achieve interactive frame rates. The distance between observer and object has always been regarded as a switching criterion for multiple levels of detail. In this thesis, several other criteria, such as view angle, the effect of fog, illumination, and the velocity of vehicle, are taken into account. In addition, a progressive switching approach for level of detail is proposed. Finally, theapproaches are applied to an application of driving simulation.zh_TW
