(Titanium(IV) n-butoxide)
Abstract This article focuses on Titanium (IV) n-butoxide adjusting to the electrooptical property of the gel-glass dispersed liquid crystal film. Working voltage and contrast ratio are part of the electrooptical property. In the experiment we used 50% of 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane and 50% of 3-(diethoxymethylsilyl) propylamine to produce GDLC. To adjust the refraction ratio we used Titanium (IV) n-butoxide and made the ratio match the crystal. One optimal result that we had is the property of GDLC under a working voltage of 8 volts made from 12% (wt%) of Titanium (IV) n-butoxide with 70% (wt%) liquid crystal thickness. Another optimal result is the property of GDLC with contrast ratio of 3.1 made from 13% (wt%) of Titanium (IV) n-butoxide with 70% (wt%) liquid crystal thickness. The resistance coefficient of the gel-glass from 12% (wt%) of Titanium (IV) n-butoxide is a little higher than that of the gel-glass from 13% (wt%) ofTitanium (IV) n-butoxide, and the time for film-making is also a little shorter. Also the resistance coefficient of the gel-glass increases if 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane are mixed with Titanium (IV) n-butoxide in different proportion, and the time for film-making is shorter with increased proportion (weigh) of Titanium (IV) n-butoxide. The refractive index will increase a little bit too. However, both of their appearances are similar, i.e., transparently white. |
