zh_TW
Die casting is a process which melted metal is filled into the die cavity by high pressure. High productivity and good castability by virtue of fluidity of melted metal under pressure are advantages of die casting. However, melted metal fluid filled into die cavity in high speed often rolls up the air remained in the cavity which in turn results in porous defects of the casted parts. The purpose of this research is to study the flow behavior of the metal fluid of Mg alloy in the cavity. Commercially available computer software package (namely Flow-3D) is adopted for simulation of the filling process. Temperature distribution of the casted metal in die cavity is also investigated. Effects of fan gate geometry on the flow pattern of the melted metal are also studies. Finally various fan gate geometry are proposed for improving the castability of Mg alloy in die casting.en_US
