dc.description.abstract藉由照射不同時間的線性偏極化紫外光得到光配向膜異向性可控制液晶盒中液晶的配向排列。利用這個特性我們製作了不同錨定能量的水平排列向列液晶盒。利用線性偏極化紫外光斜向照射在光配向膜上可使液晶排列產生預傾角。我們藉由量測預傾角以及錨定能量來研究錨定特性。由液晶盒的相位延遲與電壓的關係,配合模擬計算可得出液晶的傾角錨定能。本研究所用之平行光配向液晶盒可以達到1×10-3 J/m2的強傾角錨定能量。我們也對光配向水平排列液晶盒的熱穩定性與光穩定性做了實驗探討。zh_TW
dc.description.abstractThe photo-induced anisotropy on a photo-aligning film can be controlled by varying the exposure time of linearly polarized UV light. Utilizing this property, we prepared the homogenously aligned nematic liquid crystal(LC) cells with different anchoring strength. Nonzero pretilt angle can be achieved with obliquely incident UV light. The resulting anchoring properties were studied by measuring the pretilt angle, cell gap and anchoring energy of LC cells. By measuring the phase retardation of the liquid crystal cell versus the applied voltage, the polar anchoring energy homogenously aligned cell was found to be 1×10-3 J/m2 in our experiment. The alignment instability in LC cells caused by heating or exposure to strong visible laser beam was also investigated to ensure the long term applicability of the photo-aligning film.en_US
