摘要: 近年來隨選視訊服務快速成長,其中二項核心技術為視訊索引和透過不同網路及用戶端狀況之視訊串流。此篇論文提議將一個多區塊移動描述元和低複雜度編碼器使用於串流伺服器,以達到正確的索引及高效能的串流。在各種位元率和空間與時間解析度上,此多區塊移動描述元提供移動向量給無移動估測的低複雜度編碼器。對於以移動為基礎的視訊索引,此多區塊移動描述元更可使用為定義於MPEG-7的移動活躍描述元。此多區塊移動描述元在伺服器端組織並壓縮以提供有效率的存取。模擬結果呈現我們所建議的編碼器和MPEG建議的AVC有相似的效能,但卻有極低的複雜度。另外,多區塊移動描述元也能提供正確的視訊索引。在多媒體傳輸的網路環境中,可利用我們所建議的架構提供有效率的可調性隨選視訊服務。
The Video-On-Demand (VOD) service has grown rapidly in recently years, and two of the core technologies in VOD service are video indexing and streaming over heterogeneous networks and terminal devices. For accurate indexing and high-performance streaming, a Variable Block-Size Motion Descriptor (VBS-MD) and a low-complexity encoder are proposed for a streaming server. The VBS-MD provides motion vector descriptors for a reduced complexity encoder that has no motion estimation module to encode bitstream for various bitrates at spatio-temporal resolutions. The VBS-MD is further used as Motion Activity Descriptor specified in MPEG-7 for motion-based video indexing. The VBS-MD is organized and compressed to provide efficient accessing and storage in the server. The simulation results show that the proposed encoder has similar performance but much lower complexity as comparing with Advance Video Coding recommended by the MPEG committee. The VBS-MD also provides accurate video indexing. The proposed architecture can be utilized to build an efficient scalable VOD services for multimedia delivery in a network environment.
