Using "Partial Bypass" Concept to Augment In-row Cooler Applicable for Cooling Data Centre Servers

摘要: In this research, a new idea of in-row cooler applicable for data centres servers was designed based on the concept of “partial-bypass”. The proposed in-row cooler aims to enhance the effectiveness and the performance of the current traditional in-row coolers by using partial–bypass, which enhances the heat transfer augmentation, temperature distribution, and pressure drop decrement[1]. The results showed clearly the effects of using "partial bypass" idea for both of the pypass designs [1&2], results obviously showed higher velocity average values for the pypass designs comparing with other typical design results. Effectiveness and heat capacity results showed that partial pypass in-row cooler cases have much better enhancement in the cooling process comparing to the typical ones; bypass case 2 showed the best results of good temperature distribution, higher velocity average values, high effectiveness, and high heat transfer rate.
