dc.description.abstract | Doping of organic semiconductor films with dye molecules has stimulated a lot of research activities due to their potential applications as organic light emitting devices and organic semiconductor lasers. Thin evaporated films of organic semiconductor (8-hydroxyquinoline)-zinc (Znq2) or (8-hydroxyquinoline)-aluminum (Alq3) doped with a laser dye 4-dicanomethylene-2-methy-6-(p-dimethyI-aminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM) (Znq2:DCM) or (Alq3:DCM) provides an excellent light emitting material. Through Förster energy transfer, the pump light absorbed by the host material (Znq2 or Alq3) transfers to the dye dopant (DCM). It is also known that an enhancement of spontaneous emission from organic materials can occur via the surface plasmonic coupling with metal film. In this work, we present the study of optical emission properties carried out on Znq2: DCM and Alq3: DCM films and micron structures of Znq2: DCM. The significant enhancement of photoluminescence (PL) was observed for Znq2: DCM film grown on Au film and its PL enhancement increases as the thickness of Znq2: DCM films decreases. In the time-resolved PL (TRPL) measurement, we observed the shortening of emission lifetime for Au-coupled films, indicating fast energy transfer from excited dye molecules to surface plasmons. When exposed in the general environment, the emission properties of Znq2: DCM films is influenced by the film thickness. | zh_TW |
