台灣半導體產業之創新能力與績效

Abstract

在全球專利市場的重要戰場美國市場，台灣廠商申請的專利數量，連續三年名列全球第四名，僅落後於美國、日本、與德國。顯示台灣廠商對於創新能力的重視及提升。但若將技術分成二十一大類別，台灣企業僅在八項領域的專利市場佔有率，排名前四名。這八大類別全部集中在高科技產業，特別是半導體產業。 本文以2001至2006年為樣本期間，針對87間台灣半導體上市廠商，利用APIPA系統整理各廠商研究年間專利資料，WESTLAW系統蒐集訴訟資料，以及TEJ收集研究廠商之營運資料；期望從中彙整資料，歸納台灣半導體產業經營面向影響創新研發產出之因素，並加入目前相當受關注之員工分紅費用化議題，探討員工激勵與創新產出之相關，最後，因學生工作經歷，也是本文靈感的啟發，加入專利訴訟之影響考量。希冀規整以上變數對於半導體企業創新產出之相關影響。 經實證結果發現，在企業經營面向上，廠商規模與研發密度將有助於創新能力提升，出口比例則呈現不顯著正相關；而近來熱門話題專利訴訟與員工分紅費用化，與創新能力有所相關，專利侵權訴訟將導致企業重視創新能力的提升與佈局，對創新能力有顯著效果；而員工分紅也證實可以激勵創新能力，在員工分紅費用化之後，企業如何維持以往的創新產出，為高層所應審慎資考。 創新能力與企業績效成正面相關，顯示為企業長治久安，對於創新能力應多重視；另外，半導體產業上、中、下游之創新能力有所差異，IC製造族群雖然平均產出專利數最多，但其對績效的助益並沒有IC設計族群高，顯示除了對數量上的追求，半導體廠商更應該思考專利的品質改進。

In this paper, we collect 87 public firms in Twaiwan Semiconductor industry from 2001 to 2006. To collect the patent data as the innovation ability, we investigate the impact of internal elements such us Company size, Export ration, and RD ration. Further, infringement litigation and employee bonus are considered. The results exhibit that both company size and RD ration are positively related to the innovation ability, also infringement litigation and employee bonus system will significantly conduce innovation output. The companies should deliberate how to increase the internal elements that could encourage innovation, and how to arouse the latent energy even without the external straits. Innovation ability is also positively related to company performance, it means to encourage invention and innovation will upgrade the company performance.
