Sleeping disorder and sleep apnea are common syndromes in modern life.
About six hundred thousands adults are the patients with sleep apnea in Taiwan.
Also, there are tens of infants was diagnosed as death-on-arrival each year in
major hospitals due to sudden infant death syndrome. To avoid such tragically
situations, this project proposed to design an intelligent long-time
sleep-monitoring system with bio-feedback mechanisms and its corresponding
integrated circuits and software. The proposed system contains: sensor and
analog front-end circuitries, real-time multi-stream physiological signalprocessor,
lossless error correction codes for physiological signal storage, and
polysomnographic data mining technology, which will be delivered by different
sub-projects. With integration of above technology, a miniaturized multi-stream
physiological signal recording and reacting system is proposed, which can be
utilized as polysomnography or other clinical devices. It’s labeling and analysis
abilities are utilized in diagnosing sleep scoring, sleep apnea, etc. Furthermore,
the feed-back stimulation or alarm from the on-line monitoring can provides
the functionality to prevent sudden infant death and other syndromes. The
propose device can be widely used in emergency rooms, intensive care units,
and other long-term care units which is useful to provide in time clinical care
and reduce the loading of health care staffs.
