A passive gain-equalization technique of erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) using a samarium-doped fiber to obtain wide-band flattened gain operation is reported, In the wavelength range from 1529-1559-nm, small inter-channel gain variations can be achieved, This simple technique is suitable for multiwavelength wide-band in-line-amplifier cascaded transmission applications.en_US
