The Electronics industry has become one of the most important industries for the Taiwan economy since 1980s. Because of the environmental issues and the trends of aging society, eco-friendly, comfort, and safety lead the development of electronic control systems used in the smart cars. In 2000, 20% of the total cost of a car consisted of automotive electronics and 30% in 2010. However, this number is predicted to increase to 50% by 2030. After reaching the low point in 2009, it’s not difficult to see a stable growth of the global automotive market is providing the opportunities for companies in vehicle industry. In order to respond to the industry trends and the increasing consumer needs, the Taiwan automotive electronics companies are optimistic about the consistent extension of the application. Especially the vehicle safety system of Advance Driving Assistance System (ADAS) is flourishing. Yet, “what would Taiwan ADAS companies do to keep up with the trends” has become a popular subject in Taiwan in academics and for practitioners. This thesis intends to discuss the competitive advantages of Taiwan ADAS companies by collecting the secondary data of one of the leading suppliers in the automotive electronics industry, Tung Thih Electronic Co. Further, the analysis suggests that Taiwanese companies should invest in operation strategies, design, R&D and patents registration.
