The objective of the study is to improve walking experience with mixed reality technique. Walking is an excellent exercise, especially for the elderly. However, walking may become tedious due to limitation of the environment. Mixed reality, the hybrid of augmented reality and virtual reality, is able to turn real environment into fascinated world, and offers new opportunities to improve walking experience. In this research, a mixed reality walking system has been developed. With the function of guiding user to walk continuously in specified range and to interact with virtual characters, mixed reality provides new paradigm in improving walking experience. Concerns over user's safety and convenience in a mixed reality setting are discussed.en_US
