dc.description.abstract | To the extent that video game mods are considered as a type of cybertext, game modders virtually play a double role of player-authorship. Taking the video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as the case subject for analysis, the present paper attempts to first map the typology of game mods, and then investigate the relations between mod types and modding motivations. The paper also employs the viewpoint of intertextual appropriation to reflect on the cultural implications of modding as a form of participatory culture and creative process. | en_US |
