In 2018, the Hakka Committee decided that if a student received a zero score in “Phîn-yîm writing” in the Hakka Certification Writing Test, they would not progress to the intermediate and advanced levels. The Hakka Committee now emphasizes the teaching of phîn-yîm writing. However, many places in the Hakka certification textbooks contain “independent writing.” The “Respect Hon-sṳ” project and the author identified numerous problems in the Hakka phîn-yîm in the Hakka certification textbooks. After comparison, the author determined Pha̍k-fa-sṳ to be the optimal Hakka Lò-mâ-sṳ scheme. This article discusses the two major systems of Hakka characters and the relationship between Chinese and Roman characters.en_US
