dc.description.abstractWith the increasing demands on real-time services in WLAN systems, it is critical to make sure whether the controls provided in WLAN are sufficient to ensure the required QoS. In this study, besides the EDCF and HCF defined by the IEEE 802.11e, an enhanced timer-based scheduling control algorithm is proposed to effectively manage the delay budget. A simulation platform is developed to quantify the QoS performance and to provide a frame work for developing new QoS control algorithms. The comparison among the contention-based channel access and the controlled channel access which includes both the simple algorithm and the proposed algorithm are also evaluated.en_US
