The Trefftz method may be described in terms of an integral equation formulation based on eigenfunction expansions rather than the usual element (BEM) solution method. Using an 'Embedding Integral Equation' approach, the Trefftz method may not only be seen to be related to integral equation methods but it is also seen to be amenable to partitioning, allowing more rapid convergence.en_US
