We have studied the polaron effect on the binding energy of a hydrogenic impurity in a quantum-well structure. The interactions of an electron with both the confined bulk phonon and the interface phonon are taken into account. The competition between these two phonon modes is discussed. We have also extended the calculation for the case of a finite quantum well. It is found that the polaronic correction becomes bigger as the potential barrier gets higher.en_US
