In the recent years, the issue on fossil fuels and air contaminations had significantly impact on today`s energy source, so the experts on energy have to try to find some new energy sources, and fuel cell is one of the solutions. The origin of fuel cell can be traced back to 1970`s, but during those days, the technology and opportunity were premature, so the issue isn`t popular. But in today`s life new materials has been discovered and fossil fuels are being depleted, therefore the public has paid more attention on the issue of fuel cells. There are several types of fuel cells that are being studied, such as proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC), molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) and solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). Of all the fuel cells , PEM and SOFC are relatively known. In this thesis, we attempt to use Ansys fluent and its SOFC module to to observe the overall and some partial physical phenomena of the cell, hoping by analyzing and designing a good channel, we can improve the efficiency of the cell. First of all, we try to survey, measure and try different material parameters to get a more realistic value as a benchmark of the thesis. Then we validate our works with the data we have, and make sure these are feasible. Lastly, we implement our flow design and analyze the results. |
