dc.description.abstract本研究主要可分為三個部分。第一部分為合成具有掌性中心的化合物,本實驗總共合成了三種掌性化合物,包含一個直線型分子及兩個具掌性的雙環結構(Isosorbide)為中心的分子。其中直線型分子所具有的扭轉力較以Isosorbide為中心的分子為小。直線型分子擁有膽固醇液晶相,而以Isosorbide為中心的分子則不具有液晶相。第二部分為將實驗中合成的掌性化合物和市售向列型(nematic)液晶互相參混以誘導出藍相液晶,依據不同的混合配方與比例,成功得到八種藍相液晶配方。其中兩種配方具有BPI或BPII的藍相結構,而其餘六種配方則顯示出BPIII的藍相結構。第三部分為利用高分子安定(PSBP)的方法,將第二部分中誘導出的藍相液晶配方的溫度範圍在加以擴大,以達到具有寬溫度範圍的藍相液晶。zh_TW
dc.description.abstractIn the first part of this study, we synthesized three chiral compounds ie. (1S)-1-methylheptyl 4-(4-dodecanyloxybiphenyl-4'-carboxyloxy)benzoate (10PPePH), and isosobide derivatives (1a and 1b). Compound 10PPePH which have the smaller helical twisting power (HTP) than Isosorbide-derivatives. Compound 10PPePH shows cholesteric liquid crystal phase, while isosorbide derivatives display no mesomorphic properties.In the second part of the study, we mix of the obtained chiral compounds with commercially available nematic liquid crystal (LC) mixture to induce blue phase. Based on the different ratios of chiral dopants and LC mixture, eight kinds of blue phase mixtures were obtained. Two of mixtures display BPI or BPII phase, the other six mixtures show BPIII phase.Finally, we use polymer stablilized approach to widen the blue phase temperature range.en_US
