QBC: 物件導向資料庫之圖形使用者界面

Abstract

物件導向式資料庫管理系統是近年來最熱門的研究之一﹐然而大部分的研 究都著重在資料模型上的研究﹐和使用者息息相關的使用者界面卻少有人 投入。因此本文提出一種泛用型的物件導向式資料庫管理系統的圖形使用 者界面。商業用途的資料庫免不了人類和機器的接觸﹐設計一個友善的使 用者界面﹐讓使用者在愈來愈多､愈來愈複雜的資料中﹐觀察並迅速取得 正確的資訊是當務之急。過去的使用者界面的研究已經開始朝向圖形界面 演進﹐利用圖形的表達能力﹐來表現綱要和資料﹐甚至應用在查詢上面。 但因過去的研究仍有些不足﹐因此我們配合物件導向資料庫管理系統 EODB 的研究﹐設計了一個使用者界面 QBC 系統﹐提供完整的界面功能： 包括﹐視覺化綱要的建構､展示與瀏覽﹐原始資料型別與使用者自定型別 資料的定義及資料瀏覽﹐整合文字導向查詢和圖形導向查詢之優點的 QBC 視覺化查詢。 A general purpose graphical user interface for object- oriented database management systems, named Query-By-Class (QBC), is proposed. It provides the data definition and manipulation facilities through various operations of the visual schema and visual queries. The representaion of the QBC schema is intuition-al and easy to map the conceputual evel of the database with levels of abstraction. The functions of schema construction, schema browsing, data definition of primitive data type and user-defined data type are also supported. The expressive power of the QBC query integrates the advantages of the graph-oriented query and the text-oriented query. Futhermore, QBC is so friendly that the users can do a complicated query in a very easy way.
