摘要: | 由於目前中央處理單元之處理速度及網路之傳輸速率遠大於檔案儲存裝置 之存取速度,為了增加檔案之存取效能,我們設計並實作一個平行檔案系 統,名叫Pasda。Pasda平行檔案系統不僅能增加檔案存取速度,並且支援 完整之平行檔案存取。 Pasda平行檔案系統是在分散式環境下利用高速網 路來平行驅動多個儲存裝置以達到高檔案存取速度,同時並支援平行檔案 存取之介面,透過此一介面,使用者可以控制平行檔案在多個儲存裝置上 之實際分佈並平行存取檔案之各個部份。我們在以FDDI網路連結之UNIX系 統工作站上,實作了一個Pasda平行檔案系統原型,此原型不僅提供較高 之檔案存取速度,而且證明只要在網路頻寬之限制下,Pasda能隨著儲存 裝置個數增加而達到更快之存取速度。 This thesis presents a parallel file system, called Pasda, that not only addresses the problem of data rate mismatches between the requirements of applications and storage decvices but also supports parallel file accesses in general purpose distributed systems. The Pasda (PArallel Storage Devices Accelerator) parallel file systems uses a high-speed interconnection to provide high data rates transfers by driving multiple slower storage devices in parallel. A good parallel file accessing interface is also supported by Pasda. The user of Pasda can control the physical layout and partitioning of the file data, and can access files in parallel. An FDDI-based prototype of Pasda is constructed. The prototype provides faster data rates than access to the local SCSI disk. The prototype proves that under the constraints of network bandwidth Pasda will scale well with the number of storage devices. |
